Demand for exhibition space at bauma 2016 in Germany is said by show organiser’s to be very high following the March 2015 deadline for applications.
The globally renowned exhibition for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment will take up all the available 605,000m² of space at the Messe München exhibition center in Munich, Bavaria.

CRH get EC clearance for Lafarge-Holcim assets’ purchase
CRH, the Irish building materials’ giant, has received European Commission clearance to buy €6.5 billion of Lafarge and Holcim assets being divested by both companies as part of their merger plan.
The bulk of the assets being acquired by CRH are in Europe, but they also include a cement plant in the Philippines. The Irish Times report that the company’s revenues will rise from about €19 billion to more than €24 billion, while earnings will increase from €1.6 billion to €2.4 billion.

Belarus to release 6.1 million tonnes of cement in 2015
In 2015, Belarusian companies plan to make 6.1 million tonnes of cement.
Of these, some 2 million tonnes are to be exported, including 1.3 million tonnes to be supplied to Russia via the Eurocement Group.
In 2014, Belarus exported US$450 million (€425.65 million) worth of construction materials.
Polish cement sales grow by 3.4% in Q1 2015
The Polish Association of Cement Producer (SPC) reports that almost 2.7 million tonnes of cement were sold in Poland in the first quarter of 2015, a 3.4% rise when compared to 2013.
SPC expects that following quarters will show even higher growth and Poland's sales in the whole year of 2015 will increase by 5-6% year on year.
This will be thanks to new investments which will be financed from the European Union as well as thanks to the improvement of the economic parameters.
Pakistan cement association wants action on tax avoidance
Tax avoidance via mis-declaration and the alleged illegal import of cement from Iran are issues on which the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) is seeking government intervention.
Pakistan now has a surplus cement output capacity of over 20 million tonnes annually, while the government has made substantial losses from tax collections as the quantity of cement brought in from Iran is under-declared, says the association.
Indonesia’s Semen Padang to increase its exports
According to Benny Wendry, managing director of Semen Padang, the cement producer will not be lowering production despite slow domestic sale in the first quarter of 2015.
The company is looking at increasing its exports given the strong US dollar.
During the quarter, the company’s cement sale dropped by 6.8% from 1.61 million tonnes in the same quarter in 2013 to 1.5 million tonnes.

Savanna Diamond, Ghana, opens $90mn cement plant
Savanna Diamond Cement of Ghana has launched operations of its new US$90 million (€84.53 million) cement plant in Buipe in Ghana.
The 440,000tonnes/year plant uses limestone mined in Buipe. It is likely to generate 200 direct and 400 indirect jobs.
Romania: Lafarge invests in waste co-processing
Lafarge has invested €9.30 million (US$9.83 million) to build a waste co-processing station using €3.5 million of European Regional Development funds.
The company will use waste processed at the new plant as fuel in its production process at its Medgidia plant, according to Costin Borc, the CEO of Lafarge Romania.
