Komatsu launches M400-3 ADT

Komatsu Europe International is introducing its HM400-3 articulated truck, which the company says offers a completely redesigned traction control system; automatic retarder and Komatsu’s new engine emission technology, combined with an optimised cabin layout and increased durability. It features a gross vehicle weight of 73,740kg with a payload of 40tonnes at its maximum ground speed of 55.9km/hour, and is powered by a Komatsu SAA6D140 engine that is EU Stage IIIB and EPA Tier 4 Interim emission certified.

Hitachi unveils Zaxis-5 rang

Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe/(HCME) is launching its range of Zaxis-5 medium and large excavators.
New machines include the ZX250LC-5, ZX290LC-5, ZX350LC-5 and ZX470LCH-5. The range of Zaxis-5 models has been developed by the Design Centre at Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) in Japan. Blackwell buys first Bell loader

Civil engineering company C A Blackwell has bought its first Bell wheeled loader to fulfil an earthmoving contract for Aggregate Industries. The County Essex, south-east England-based company has put a Bell L2106E loader to work in Tucklesholme Quarry, close to Bell’s UK headquarters on the Counties Staffordshire-Derbyshire border.

Euro Auctions’ world round-up for Q1

A leading used construction equipment auctioneer firm boss believes equipment aged between 2 and 4 years is now topping buyers’ ‘wish lists’, as 1 to 2-year-old used stocks deplete. Subcontractor bankruptcy causes no delays to Stockholm Arena

No further delays are expected of the construction the Stockholm Arena in Sweden, despite the bankruptcy of the subcontractor Betongmästarna. Niclas Brantingson, press officer at Peab, said that the concrete elements that are needed for the stadium have been produced and assembling will be done as planned. Spanish consumption of cement down to 1966 level

Cement consumption in Spain during the first three months of 2012 sank to the lowest level since 1966.
Consumption between 1 January and 31 March was down 31.3% compared to the same period of 2011.
