By end-2015, the company intends to add 1 million tonnes to its existing 6 million-tonne capacity.

Terex further expands environmental equipment business
Terex Materials Processing, a business segment of Terex Corporation, has acquired the assets related to the Environmental Technology product lines of Austrian company Neuson Ecotec.
The company says the acquisition marks further expansion of the Terex Environmental Equipment (TEE) business unit, closely following the purchase of the assets of Continental Biomass Industries (CBI) in April.

Poland’s production of RMC predicted to grow
The Polish Association of Ready-Mixed Concrete Producers (SPBT) estimates that Poland's production of ready-mixed concrete will reach 20 million m³ in 2015; in 2016 it will grow to 21.4 million m³, and in 2017 it will increase to 23.3 million m³, similar to the record-breaking year of 2011.
In 2014, the production of ready-mixed concrete rose by 7%, when compared to the year before, and amounted to almost 19.2 million m³.
Nigeria’s Lafarge Africa named Best Complying Company 2014
Nigeria-based cement maker Lafarge Africa has been named the Best Complying Company of the Year 2014.
The company won the award for its undivided commitment towards complying with the requirements of the Companies and Allied Matters Act and its ability to operate with the highest levels of ethics.
Lafarge Africa received the award from Nigeria's Corporate Affairs Commission.
Ciments du Maroc to open a grinding centre in 2016
Moroccan cement company Ciments du Maroc (Italcementi), which has three plants in Morocco, intends to open a grinding centre in the north of the country by the end of 2016, thus highlighting its priorities, sustainable development and envrionmental protection.
Italcementi is second in the country in the cement market, with 24% market share, and is Lafarge's main competitor.
The company aims to expand to Guinea, Western Africa, where several projects have been identified. Works are due to begin in 2015
Lafarge Cement to spend US$5 million on Zimbabwe plant upgrades
In 2015, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe (Lafarge Cement) will spend another US$5 million (€4.43 million) on plant upgrades.
The proposal has been approved by its parent company, France-based Lafarge Group.
The plant upgrades will increase the cement maker's volume from 390,000 tonnes of cement/year at present, to 500,000 tonnes.
In 2014, the company had announced its plans to spend up to US$15 million on upgrading its milling plant.
Belarus’s Granit lowers crushed stone production plan for 2015
The Belarusian company Granit has lowered its plan for crushed stone production in 2015 from 15.70 million tonnes to 13.50 million tonnes, which is the same as in 2012.
The company may also stop developing the Sitnitskoe field and construction of a mining and processing plant.
Granit's actions are caused by a fall in demand for crushed stone in Russia, which is the main export market of the company, as well as by the Russian rouble's devaluation and price dumping practices of Ukrainian producers.
Primorsky region, Russia, cuts production of minerals in 2014
According to 2014 exploration results, the Primorsky region (Far East) of Russia had 31.61 million m³ of common minerals (such as sand, gravel), up from 15.5 million m³ in 2013. It is reported to have produced 4,064m³ in 2014 (-846,000m³ year-on-year).
Market players attribute the decline to the decrease in the demand for building materials and the absence of major projects.

France: Cemex opens new production site in Carros
Building materials producer Cemex has opened a new 6,200m² production site in Carros in the French department of Alpes-Maritime.
With six hoppers, it has a unitary capacity of 80tonnes, with a storage capacity of 480tonnes of granulates as well as an additive storage facility in line with environmental regulations.
All water used is recycled for the production of concrete or to wash material, and returned concrete is recycled after hardening and crushing.

Ash Grove Cement Company announce death of James P. Sunderland
The Ash Grove Cement Company of Overland Park, Kansas, has announced that James P. Sunderland, former company chairman and president, has died, aged 87.
He joined the Ash Grove Lime and Portland Cement Company in 1957 as its corporate secretary in Kansas City.
In his 43-year career at Ash Grove Cement, Sunderland held several leadership positions, including serving as the company’s chairman and president, and during his tenure, the company became one of the largest Portland cement producers in the US.
US construction equipment exports down
Exports of US-made construction equipment declined 14.9% for first quarter 2015 compared to first quarter 2014, with a total US$3.65 billion shipped to global markets.
All world regions experienced declines, and all in the double digits except Europe and Canada, with Africa the hardest hit, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the North American-based international trade group representing the off-road equipment manufacturing industry.
